What we can learn from Paul’s discussion about head coverings in 1 Corinthians 11.

For many people this will be a familiar passage – perhaps one you’ve heard used to require women to wear a head covering in church. But the difficulty in this passage is not the head coverings – it’s clear that was a cultural representation of a woman’s position, most similar to wedding rings today.
The goal in studying this passage is to understand the principles it contains and apply them to our own culture, specifically that men and women are equal, but they are not the same.
An outline for this passage could be:
- God Himself Demonstrates Equal but not the Same
- Creation shows Equal but not the Same
- The Natural Way things work is Equal but not the Same
